Kira Bella – Founder & CEO of Kirameki

I was born in Tanzania, raised in Australia, and at 15, moved to the United States independently, a journey that seemed to have no clear destination. But, through all my travels and experiences, I've come to understand that life isn't about knowing exactly where you're going, but rather it's about embracing the journey itself.

By the age of 25, I had travelled to more than 50 countries, each one shaping me and igniting a deeper passion for cultural exchange, connection, and the stories that unite us all.

Finding Home in Japan

Today, I find myself in Japan, in a quiet, rural corner of Hiroshima Prefecture, a place I never imagined would become home, yet one that's taught me the deepest lessons about life, peace, and the beauty of rootedness.

It's here that I've learned to appreciate the simple joys of community, tranquillity, and a life lived with intention. It's here that I've been inspired to create Kirameki, a space that reflects all I've learned and everything I now hold dear.

Education & Vision

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon and a Master's in Sustainable Energy from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. My studies and travels deepened my commitment to environmental sustainability. But truly, it's the connections I've made with kindred spirits that have sharpened the vision I carry.

Through sharing my journey on social media, I've had the privilege of connecting with millions of people from all over the world. Each interaction has reinforced my belief that we are all interconnected and that, together, we can create a brighter, more sustainable future.

I believe that to care for our planet, we must first care for each other, our relationships, our communities, and the stories that bind us.

Rediscovering Hiroshima

Hiroshima, in particular, has always fascinated me. Often overshadowed by its tragic past with the atomic bomb, it's a prefecture that has been overlooked for far too long.

Yet, it's here that I've discovered some of Japan's most beautiful landscapes, richest traditions, and warmest communities.

Resilience

Hiroshima represents resilience, renewal, and peace, and I believe it can be a model for rural revitalisation, showing how communities can rebuild, rejuvenate, and thrive.

Culture

Surrounded by ancient Shinto customs, Kagura performances over 150 years old, and breathtaking landscapes that change with the seasons, I have found a deep connection to a culture that feels timeless.

Community

The community here feels like family. It's a place where younger generations are choosing to trade their busy lives in the city to live authentically in the countryside.

The Birth of Kirameki

This is why Kirameki was born, a space where I can share everything that has inspired me, everything I've learned, and everything I now hold dear. Kirameki is the culmination of my life's journey, a journey that has taken me across continents, immersed me in vibrant cultures, and taught me that true fulfilment lies not in what we have, but in how deeply we connect with the world around us.

Through Kirameki, I want to offer you the chance to experience the joy of this place, to embrace the magic of cultural exchange, and to join a community that celebrates life's beautiful moments. It's my way of offering the world a chance to experience what I've found here in this magical corner of Japan.
